In a statement to People magazine in April 2014, Bynes’ attorney, Tamar Arminak, directly refuted the claims. “For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it,” Arminak asserted, aiming to dispel the widespread conjecture. The lawyer clarified that Bynes herself wished to address these unfounded rumors directly and put them to rest.
Further emphasizing Bynes’ positive progress, Arminak revealed that the actress was thriving without medication. “Amanda currently is on zero medication,” she stated. “She’s devoted to living her life as healthy as possible.” Arminak also highlighted Bynes’ commitment to a healthy lifestyle, noting, “She’s never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she’s proud to say she’s been marijuana-free for the past nine months.”
Having completed rehabilitation treatment in December of the previous year, Bynes had embarked on a path of personal growth and new endeavors. Arminak shared that Bynes was channeling her energy into launching a clothing line, a project she was actively pursuing. Demonstrating her commitment to this aspiration, Bynes enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Orange County. She was pictured alongside her mother, Lynn, and fellow students at a school event in March, signaling a positive and engaged return to academic and creative pursuits.
At the time of the statement, it was reported that Bynes, then 27, would remain under her mother’s care until at least September. Arminak concluded on an optimistic note, “She’s doing extremely well.
