Cardiovascular disease remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, necessitating continuous advancements in its diagnosis and treatment. To address the evolving landscape of cardiovascular medicine and foster global collaboration, we proudly introduce Cardiovascular Diagnosis & Therapy (CDT), a new, open-access journal committed to disseminating cutting-edge research and insights.
In a world saturated with medical publications, the rationale behind launching CDT stems from a clear need for a platform that prioritizes international exchange and rapid dissemination of knowledge. CDT distinguishes itself through several key features designed to benefit the global cardiovascular community. First and foremost, CDT aims to be an interactive hub for data sharing and collaborative research among investigators across the globe. Recognizing the increasing globalization of research, CDT actively encourages submissions from diverse geographical locations, particularly from emerging and developing economies. Our international editorial board ensures that the peer-review process is sensitive to global perspectives and nuances in cardiovascular research.
To further enhance international accessibility, CDT embraces bilingual content, publishing articles primarily in English while also offering selected content in Chinese (Mandarin). This unique approach broadens readership, facilitating knowledge transfer to clinicians and researchers who may not be fluent in English, and simultaneously offers authors expanded visibility in Chinese-speaking regions.
The journal’s commitment to rapid global distribution is realized through its innovative online publishing platform (www.thecdt.org). While maintaining a traditional print version (ISSN: 2223-3652), CDT’s primary focus is its online presence (ISSN: 2223-3660). The journal website serves as a central, open-access repository for all published articles, along with supplementary materials such as interviews and visual aids. This interactive platform also encourages feedback and online discussions, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas.
CDT’s reach extends beyond its website through strategic partnerships with leading international platforms like DXY (www.dxy.cn/) and MDLinx (www.mdlinx.com/). DXY, China’s largest online academic portal for medical professionals, and MDLinx, a comprehensive aggregator of medical literature, significantly amplify the distribution of CDT content to millions of healthcare professionals worldwide. Furthermore, CDT leverages social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to ensure widespread dissemination and engagement.
The scope of CDT is intentionally broad, encompassing all facets of cardiovascular medicine and surgery. We welcome submissions of original research, comprehensive reviews, and articles addressing topics often underrepresented in existing literature. This includes investigations into the interplay between socioeconomic and environmental factors and cardiovascular health, the impact of global climate change, the integration of Western and traditional Chinese medicine, and even the role of art in medicine, as highlighted in our ‘Art and Medicine’ feature [1].
CDT operates as an open-access journal, both online and in quarterly print editions, publishing original data, reviews, and diverse article types across cardiovascular medicine and surgery. We encourage submissions from both clinical and basic science domains. The online submission process and streamlined peer-review system are designed for rapid turnaround times. Accepted manuscripts are promptly published ‘online first’ on the CDT website, ensuring immediate, free access. The platform also supports the display of rich supplemental materials, including expanded image sets and video content [3].
A crucial objective for CDT is to achieve inclusion in prominent scientific databases, such as PubMed and Web of Science, and to rapidly obtain a significant Cardiovascular Diagnosis And Therapy Impact Factor. We are confident that CDT will evolve into a highly respected international resource for disseminating novel basic and clinical science findings in cardiovascular medicine and surgery. To realize this vision, CDT will leverage both traditional print accessibility and established scientific search engines, while strategically utilizing innovative social media and online distribution channels, with the journal website (http://www.thecdt.org) serving as the central access point. We invite the global cardiovascular research community to contribute to and engage with CDT, as we collectively advance the frontiers of cardiovascular diagnosis and therapy.
